Where are you on the Marketing Technology Maturity Journey?

When we help companies implement (or rebuild) Marketo, and there are two kinds of companies:

  • Stage 0 companies, where the transformation is just beginning, providing us the opportunity to rebuild marketing and systems from scratch.
  • Companies that are at Stage 0 but already have Marketo, which means their system is at Stage 1 or 2, but their thinking is not.

When you engage with Etumos, our team spends quite a bit of time learning about your business and then working with you to design a Marketo system and build plan that helps you make that transformation as well as moves you along the Journey at the right pace for the people in the business.

The Process and Journey We Will Make

A typical engagement covers 6 months, covers many projects, each of which take the following steps:

  1. Pre-discovery
  2. Proposal and sprint plan outline
  3. Discovery
  4. Implementation Guide and Project Plan
  5. Build Phase
  6. Sync
  7. Test
  8. Deploy and Go Live

What happens before implementation?

During the Discovery and Planning phases, Etumos will go over your marketing and sales processes; content programs; website; and CRM. We will surface and develop the details around the funnel, the data that needs to be collected, and lead scoring. If requested, we can facilitate sales-marketing alignment in detail as well as demand generation transformation.

The decisions you make before implementation are crucial to a successful deployment and you will have our guidance and advice throughout.

What happens during implementation?

Once you approve the process charts and plans, we will work with your technology and CRM teams (as needed) to make changes to the CRM. Etumos will also prepare the settings necessary for Marketo. Once the CRM is ready, we will initiate the sync.

What happens after the sync?

Once the sync is tested and running, we then build out all the workflows we designed and approved. These will be tested and once you approve, Marketo will go live for you to manage the funnel.

At this stage, your team is trained to manage the system and deploy campaigns.

How do I manage the system once we are done?

During our 6-month engagement, we’ll deploy many programs and while the work to go-live will be completed, we’ll assist you in maintaining the programs until an internal FTE is comfortable with the systems or processes we’ve helped implement. You may want to hire a marketing operations manager to handle the daily administration, reporting, and campaign support. Etumos works with your team on the final handoff.

Wait, installing Marketo sounds a lot more complex than I thought.

Yes, it is. Any marketing technology solution or Marketing Automation Platform (MAP) requires solid thinking before even selecting the vendor. You may have already purchased Marketo and are chomping at the bit, ready to see ROI. We recommend patience and carefully designing a system so that ensures you see ROI – ROI in time saved and later in funnel transparency. No MAP is a magic bullet to your marketing challenges.
